Late 18th century. Sandstone segmental-arched panel and frame set in rubble whinstone retaining wall; panel inscribed "1887 AW FW"; spout missing. Inscribed lintel (now illegible), seemingly of earlier date.
This balm well is situated about 20 metres to N of B6352 junction with the road to Cherrytrees. Virtue Well is marked on the 1st edition OS map.
