Description

Dated 1774. Cylindrical, 2-stage dovecot. Squared and pinned (cherry-cocked) rubble, granite ashlar dressings, encircling alighting course. Door to E, marriage stone above to left dated 1774, with initials J I and H G (see notes). Small opening to S, semi-circular flight-hole with voussoirs to W above. Roofless.

INTERIOR: No nests remain inside. Potence base at centre.

Statement of Interest

The dated plaque commemorates John Innes, 1st of Netherdale, and Helen Gordon of Ardmeallie, who had married in June 1760. Netherdale House to the S, the Coachhouse and the Walled Garden, are listed separately.
