Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house forming part of terrace. Polished ashlar; rusticated at ground floor. Vermiculated base course; dividing band course; 1st floor cill course; cornice; blocking course. Aprons to 1st floor windows.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to 2-column fluted doorpiece; timber door; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor; single windows at ground and 1st floor to right; bipartite windows at ground and 1st floor to left. Bipartite dormers to outer left and right at attic.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; rooflight; stone skews; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS: spear-headed iron railings to entrance.

Statement of Interest

Nos 1-29 (Inclusive Nos, no No 13 and 30, 32 and 54 Fullarton Street) form B Group. The N side of Barns Street formed Ayr's first regular terrace development (Dodd, p358).
