Mid 19th century. Single storey (later attic to No 34), 3-bay, pair of cottages. Coursed sandstone. Base course; eaves course; strip quoins; architraved, square-headed openings.
NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrances; glazed timber doors; letterbox fanlights; flanking single windows. Tripartite canted dormer to right of No 34.
SW ELEVATION: gabled; window off-centre to left in gablehead
NE AND NW ELEVATIONS: not seen 1999.
Lying-pane glazing to No 34; replacement timber 12-pane timber sash and case windows to No 36. Slate roof; stone skews; gablehead and ridge stacks; circular and polygonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: not seen 1999.
GATEPIERS, RAILINGS AND BOUNDARY WALL: square-plan painted pedestrian gatepiers; spear-headed iron railings divide property; low coped boundary wall; vehicular entrance to right of No 36.
Notable for the retention (in part) of lying-pane glazing, railings, gatepiers and boundary wall, making a prominent contribution to the local streetscape. Marked on Ordnance Survey map, 1858 as South Place. Similar pair of cottage to Nos 30 and 32 Midton Road (see separate list description).
