Mr Ormiston, architect, Edinburgh, dated 1878. Gothic revival.
Small church constructed of dark local whinstone with contrasting tooled ashlar dressings and margins. Entrance gable to Seafield Street with porch; 5-bay return elevation to Reidhaven Street lit by bipartite pointed-headed windows with lattice-pane glazing.
Ridge spirelet; slate roof with decorative red tiled ridge. Single storey 2-bay vestry with doorway at rear.
INTERIOR: simple interior with entrance lobby; original fittings.
Plain pews; panelled dais for minister; timber braced ceiling.
Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Former Wesleyan Chapel and inscribed as such over porch door. Third church constructed by the Methodist Wesleyan congregation in Banff since formation in l777 after a visit by John Wesley. The second church was at 27 Castle Street (see listing description). Corner site with Reidhaven Street. Former manse listed separately.
