Description

Early Victorian. Large detached neo-Jacobean mansionhouse of
Burn and Bryce school, finely detailed. 2-storey coursed
rubble L-plan front to Kenilworth Road, gabled left-hand bay
with balustraded canted bay through both floors to left,
1-window bay with pedimented dormer head to right, centre
gabled entrance bay with architraved doorpiece, sculptural
relief and single window with strap work pediment above,
5-window front to Henderson Street, 3 alternately disposed
1-window gabled sections, left hand and middle sections with
counter changed segmentally pedimented and strap-worked
windows, right-hand section has canted bay through both
floors, pedimented dormer heads at 2 intermediate bays, that
on left bipartite; decorative scrolled crowsteps, slated
roof, triple-shafted chimneys with central shaft spiralled,
2-storey back wing reconstructed 1976. Ashlar gatepiers,
spear-headed railings survive.
