Description

1878. Long continuous concrete pier with high seaward wall
running NE to SW (the NW Pier) and angled at harbour
entrance to run due W (the N Pier).

Statement of Interest

Buckie Harbour, which incorporates the earlier small Cluny

Harbour, was the first large concrete harbour to be

constructed in Scotland. The NW and N piers run continuously

the whole seaward length of the harbour complex, protecting

it from the open sea in the Moray Firth. Only the NW and N

Piers, the lighthouse on the North Pier and the leading

light on Cliff Terrace are listed.
