Description

A and W Reid, 1865. Symmetrical 3-storey, 5-bay S facing granary/ store. Tooled rubble, tooled ashalr dressings. Wide centre entrance doorway with double leaf plank doors in centre N elevation at 1st floor level, approached by short roadway oversailing ground floor. S elevation with wide segmental-headed openings in outer and centre bays of ground floor. Regular shuttered fenestration throughout, including

single small gablet openings in E and W gables. Off-centre doorways in ground and 1st floors, W gable. Slate roof; stone ridge.

Statement of Interest

Highland railway opened from Alves to Burghead in 1861. The granary abuts the railway line and is close to the former station.
