Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan house in classical terrace, Doric columned doorcase with plain cornice and frieze. Heavily droved ashlar with stone quoins, squared and snecked rubble to rear, base course and eaves cornice; architraved regular windows; stop-chamfered arrises and stone mullions to canted windows.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: centre deep-set panelled door with plate glass fanlight, full-height canted window to right and windows to left at both floors; cast-iron rooflight at centre with flanking slate-hung canted dormers.
N ELEVATION: door slightly to left of centre with windows in bays to right and left, single storey lean-to extension to outer right abutting wall of neighbouring property; stair window to centre, 1st floor with 2 windows to right and further window in bay to left of centre; modern rooflight above.
Plate glass glazing in modern uPVC windows. Graded grey slates, harled stack with cans to E.
INTERIOR: dog-leg stair with decorative cast-iron balusters and wooden handrail, decorative cornicing and slender colonnettes at bay window.
GAZEBO, BOUNDARY WALLS AND RAILINGS: 19th century polygonal gazebo with slated roof (rubble with modern repairs) and pointed window openings. Low saddleback-coped boundary walls to S, and terrace walls to N with decorative cast-iron railings, coped rubble boundary walls to N.
Owner has traced documents (post 1828) to the original owner James Murray in East India Service and Singapore Merchant Navy.
