Description

Late 18th century. 3-storey, 3-bay, T-plan simple traditional domestic tenement closing irregular terrace to NE. Rubble with raised margins; harled stair tower.

SE ELEVATION: symmetrical. 2-leaf timber door to centre bay at ground, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration to each floor above. Large rubble pal stone to outer left.

SW (ROY STREET) ELEVATION: gabled elevation with window to each floor at outer left.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 windows to harled, piended stair tower projecting to centre, door on return to right and 2 further windows above; 2 windows to each floor at left.

9- and 12-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped rubble and brick stack with thackstanes and cans; ashlar-coped skews.

Statement of Interest

Renovated in 1995-6, with the support of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, this is thought to be the oldest surviving building in the burgh.
