Covenanters Grave

Uploader's Comments

A grave containing the remains of three executed Covenanters: the heads of Laurence Hay and Andrew Pitulloch (both martyred in 1681), and the hand of David Hackston of Rathillet (executed in 1680 for the murder of Archbishop Sharp of St. Andrews). Hackston was a supporter of Richard Cameron and took part in the issuing of the Sanquhar Declaration. He fought at Drumclog, Bothwell Bridge and was taken prisoner while fighting alongside Cameron at Airds Moss.
