Description

H E Milner of Westminster, architect. Dated 1895. Bridge;
spans deep valley; gigantic round arch over Overtoun Burn,
flanked by lower and smaller pedestrian arches. Rough-faced
ashlar with polished dressings, keystones and moulded arch
rings. Arches corniced at impost level with triangular
buttresses corbelled below parapet and carried upwards as
semi-circular pedestrian refuges; moulded parapet coping with
domed caps.
Pierced balustrade, at head of steps leading down to garden,
is linked to house.

7.6.1895 (despite its being inscribed 5.6.1895).

Lord Overtoun purchased Garshake Estate in June 1893, and

work began on this drive almost immediately; it was also

designed and planned by H E Milner.
