Description

Later 19th century. 4-storey and attic, 5-bay commercial and domestic building. Sandstone ashlar, grey slate Mansard roof. Channelled pilaster strips to ground floor with new cement panels lined to represent channelled masonry between, giant angle pilaster to upper floors at right, plain friezes to 1st and 2nd floors, cill band to 3rd, eaves course, corniced parapet; plate glass windows to ground floor formed from larger openings, single, bipartite and canted windows (consoled at 1st floor) to upper floors with 2-pane timber sash and case glazing, bi- and tripartite box dormers; ashlar-coped skews, corniced gable and ridge stacks with uniform, square-section, cream cans.

FRONT ELEVATION: door to centre bay with window above, 4 windows to left and right, single window flanked by canted windows with bipartites to left and right at 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, 2 tripartite dormers flanked by bipartites.

INTERIOR: not seen.

Listed for its group value with the Dock Street/Whitehall Crescent block which formerly faced the Earl Grey Dock.
