Description

Dated 1850. 4-storey and attic, 4-bay tenement with shops to ground floor. Pinkish sandstone ashlar, rubble to rear, slate roof.

Cill band to 2nd floor, eaves course; architraved and corniced windows to 1st floor with 2-pane timber sash and case glazing, architraved windows to 2nd floor and margined to 3rd both with original 12-pane timber sash and case glazing pattern, timber-pedimented dormers with modern out-of-character pivot glazing. Ashlar-coped skew and stack to W, rendered wallhead stack to front.

FRONT ELEVATION: close door to centre flanked by shopfronts (early to right, modernised to left), 4 windows to each upper floor, wallhead stack and 2 dormers.

REAR ELEVATION: square projecting stair tower flanked by single windows, large modern slate-hung dormers.

INTERIOR: not seen.

Statement of Interest

Cast-iron rainwater hopper at junction of 82 and 84 shopfronts is dated 1850.
