Description

Mid 19th century. 4-storey, 4-bay tenement with shops to ground floor. Ashlar front, rubble to side and rear, slate roof. Small L-plan tenement to rear. Cill band to 1st and 2nd floor, eaves course; margined and corniced windows to 1st floor, architraved to 2nd, margined to 3rd, 12-pane timber sash and case glazing, bottom sashes altered to single pane at 1st and 2nd floors. Corniced and linked wallhead stack, brick gable stacks (partially cut-down to right).

FRONT ELEVATION: close doorway to centre flanked by modern shopfronts, 4 windows to each upper floor, off-centre wallhead stack.

REAR ELEVATION: square projecting stair tower flanked by single windows.

INTERIOR: not seen.

NO 94: early-mid 19th century gabled L-plan tenement to rear approached by semi-forestair. 2-bay S elevation. Piended roof dormers, slate roof painted green. Gable stacks, 1 ashlar, 1 rebuilt in brick, 1 missing. 12-pane sash and case windows.

No 94 Nethergate refers both to the L-plan tenement at the rear, and to the upper flats of the tenement facing Nethergate, approached via the same close.
