Description

Walter MacFarlane and Co, Saracen Foundry, Glasgow, 1889. Ornate octagonal plan bandstand on concrete moulded base. Cast-iron columns with Corinthianesque capitals at angles bearing cusped segmentally arched cast-iron spandrels with elaborate traceried open work decoration, ornate frieze with leaves masking angles, projecting cornice with pierced iron antefixae. Ogee domed metal roof with pendant arched valence feature midway and tall cast and wrought-iron crown finial.

Arabesque cast-iron railings.

Restored 1990, City of Dundee Architect's department. Upgraded 24.10.91.
