Description

Late 18th century U-plan villa, remodelled by David Neave
and raised from 1- to 2-storey circa 1820, extended to rear
mid 19th century, altered 1924 by Mills and Shepherd
(principal entrance moved from E to W elevations, interior
remodelled). Coursed rubble with margined angles and windows.
S elevation: 3 bays and 3-window bow formed circa 1820,
windows enlarged, building heightened.
W elevation: originally 3-bay, some openings rearranged.
Round-arched fan-lit tripartite doorway inserted 1924. NW
wing 2- by 1-bay, Victorian, altered from longer wing, with
corniced doorpiece and shouldered stack.
E elevation: 3 bay (4 1st floor windows, 1 later) extended
to N by 4 bays. Piend-roofed former porch at position of
original entrance, narrow door to left, modern square brick
stack to right. Outside stair with modern porch to gable.
INTERIOR: remodelled 1924 around atrium light well. Carved
stone fireplace in living-room.
