Description

Watson and Salmond (Glasgow), dated 1903. Large asymmetrical, simply-detailed, 2-storey snecked and stugged ashlar villa

S elevation: 4 mullioned and transomed bays on blind

basement. From left: canted gabled bay, ground floor 3-light

mullions and transoms removed; centre left tripartites,

transomed at ground; centre right advanced with 4-light

windows to each floor and steep gable; right bay, 3-light

ground, cross 1st floor window with gabletted head.

N elevation; Tudor basket-arched door with dated panel under stepped hoodmould set in canted angle at return

of advanced gable, bipartite and crenellated parapet over.

Transomed stair window with triple-light in gable. Smaller

door under stepped hoodmould to left, gabled bay to right.

Slate roofs with overhanging eaves. Ashlar ridge stacks.

Casement windows, most with original leaded panes, to N,

sash and case windows, 2-paned sash and case windows

to S, 1 altered.

Pagoda-capped gatepiers, wrought-iron gate boundary wall,

stepped over pedestrian gate.
