Statement of Interest

B group with Balmossie Mill; Panmure Bleachfield, Cottages and Stable Block; Panmure Bleachfield, House/Tenement; Panmure Bleachfield, Road Bridge over Dichty Water. The chapel of Eglismonichty dedicated to St Andrew and perhaps having its origins as early as the eighth enctury formerly stood to the north east of this bridge. The chapel remained until after the Reformation, and the mill nearby is referred to at least as early as 1692. It is likely therefore that a bridge existed here from medieval times. The OS maps of 1857-58 and 1901 suggest the present bridge may date from the expansion of the mill during the later 19th century.
