Circa 1880. 3-storey, 4-bay, rectangular-plan, gabled classical tenement with shops at ground. Yellow ashlar sandstone. Cill band at 2nd floor, entablature, eaves course, consoled projecting cornice. Moulded architraves with projecting cornices at 1st floor.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: panelled timber entrance door to tenements, large fanlight, to centre. Single bay, plate glass and timber shop front with recessed entrance to left. 2-leaf, timber doors to pend entrance to outer left. 2-bay, plate glass and timber, shop front to right with central recessed entrance. Regular fenestration to upper storeys; 2 single windows to centre flanked by stone-mullioned bipartite windows.
E (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen 2001.
N (SIDE) ELEVATION: obscured by abutting building.
S (SIDE) ELEVATION: harled gablehead, remainder obscured by abutting building.
2-pane upper, 4-pane lower, timber-framed, sash and case windows. Grey slates, lead flashing. Harled, coped stacks to gable ends and W wallhead. Coped skews. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: refurbished shops to ground. Tenement not seen 2001.
A tenement with unusually good classical detailing. Original list description dates the building to 1884 but without evidence for this the current description is more circumspect. Late Victorian, plate glass, shopfronts
