Circa 1880. 2-storey with attic, 4-bay, triangular-plan, on corner site, asymmetrical, Jacobethan tenement with shops to ground. 2-stage turret with conical roof to corner. Squared, bull-faced, red sandstone courses with yellow ashlar sandstone margins. Long and short quoins. Architraved windows with projecting cills.

E (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: modern plate glass shop fronts to ground, door to centre left, blind canted ashlar bay to outer right. Moulded architraves with projecting cornice to 2nd storey windows, moulded eaves course, timber box dormer to right, gabled bay to outer left with window to gablehead. 2-stage, corbelled, octagonal turret to right return; string course between stages, projecting cornice, conical roof with cast-iron finial.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: 2-storey with attic and raised basement on falling ground, irregular fenestration. Gabled bay to right, chamfered angle to outer right. Abutting turret to outer left.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: obscured by abutting building.

Predominantly 6-pane upper, plate glass lower, sash and case windows. Grey slates, lead flashing. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: refurbished office premises to ground and 1st floor. Attic storey tenement not seen 2001.

Statement of Interest

The corner turret, in particular, of this corner tenement built on a sloping site, makes an important contribution to the Dunblane townscape.
