Description

Early 18th century. Single storey and attic row of 3 cottages. Square and snecked rubble painted.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: from right: 4 single windows; door; 2 single windows; door; single window. 4 attic windows at regular intervals.

E ELEVATION: small single window in left bay in attic.

S ELEVATION: from right: 3 single windows (irregularly spaced); door; single window; modern porch extension; single window.

N ELEVATION: small single window in left bay in attic.

Mostly modern glazing; 8-pane sash and case window in E elevation. Grey slate roof; crowstepped skews; coped stacks at wallheads and 2 along roof.

INTERIOR: not seen 2001.

Statement of Interest

In 1793, Ure described Kittochside as the 'most pleasant village' in East Kilbride. These cottages were probably built for the men who worked on the Castlehill estate.
