Early-mid 19th century possibly incorporating earlier
fabric 2-storey, 3-bay former bank, set back from High
Street, with mid-late 19th century additions at rear.
Squared and snecked stugged sandstone, whinstone rubble
sides and rear, droved sandstone dressings and eaves course.
W ELEVATION: to High Street. Doorway to centre,
ashlar margins and hook bracketted doorpiece; 8-pane strip
fanlight. Windows to flanking bays, 3 windows at 1st floor.
2-storey additions at rear. Iron bars to windows of side
elevations at ground floor. Elongated window to 1st floor
at outer right of S elevation partially glazed. Bipartites
at ground and 1st floor to rear.
N elevation blank.
Predominantly sash and case windows with 12-lying pane
glazing pattern.
Grey slates; piended roof to front, platform roof to rear
additions. Sandstone wallhead cornice stack.
Former branch of Dunbar Bank. Note iron panelled shutters
reinforced wall cupboard, and indications of counter
position on floor of former banking hall; ground floor left.
N elevation protected by iron sheeting until mid 20th
century.
