Dr. Hugh Dewar Memorial Fountain

Uploader's Comments

Appearances can be deceptive. The inscription on the fountain states that it was erected by the grateful patients of a local doctor. Yet their expression of loyal support masks a double tragedy. In 1914, the doctor was charged with gross medical incompetence at a childbirth that resulted in the mother's death. He committed suicide before the case was heard in public.
