Description

David C Proudfoot, City Road Surveyor, Engineer, 1904. Cast-iron box girder road bridge (crossing canal) with stone abutments; girders with applied decoration and cast, moulded and panelled parapet. Abutment walls facing canal coursed and stugged, outer walls squared and snecked rubble. Ashlar parapet at each corner with base course and moulded coping; outer stop-chamfered corniced piers; inner larger stop-chamfered piers with astragal and plain cornice supporting octagonal cup finial. N pier with copper commemorative plaque.
