Description

Possibly early 19th century. 3, 4-storey and basement tenements. Cream sandstone, droved ashlar front, coursed rubble to rear and sides. Rubble basement; banded base course; dentilled eaves cornice; plain pilastered and corniced (No 141 dentilled) painted doorpieces with panelled doors and rectangular plate glass fanlights (Nos 141,143 with border glazing); Nos 141-145 stone cleaned and partly refronted.

NW (FRONT) ELEVATION: regular fenestration. No 141 4-bay with doorway to right of centre, windows above blinded. Nos 143 and 145 4-bay with doorway in bay to left of centre and later door inserted in bay outer left; decorative cast-iron window guards to left bays at 3rd floor.

No 147 3-bay with central doorway, windows above blinded. each tenement with 2 rectangular tripartite dormers with piended roofs.

SE (REAR) ELEVATION: nepus gables.

Timber sash and case windows, mostly 12-pane some plate glass glazing, replacement windows to 1st floor of No 147. Slate roof with lead flashings; tall coped mutual stacks (rebuilt).

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
