The remains of an early railway bridge over the Braid Burn on the line of the old Edinburgh-Dalkeith Railway (aka 'Innocent Railway'). An information plaque on the wall to the right informs passers-by that the bridge was built in 1831 by the Shotts Iron Company for the sum of £133.10s; also that "the Beams which are curved in top elevation are of 'L' and inverted 'T' cross-sections. They are of outstanding interest as being amongst the earliest surviving examples of their type anywhere."
