Netherbow Port Clock

Uploader's Comments

The clock which Thomas Hamilton incorporated into this building was originally part of the Netherbow Port (Lower town gate) at the foot of Edinburgh's High Street. The port was demolished in 1764 and the clock transferred to the Orphan Hospital near Trinity College Church below the Calton Hill. It was transferred again when that building was demolished in the 1840s to clear the way for building Waverley Station.
