Built by James Nisbet architect/builder/developer c1790 for himself and family. Nisbet worked with and was influenced by Robert Adam. This is the remaining part of a nine bay row of three houses with 115 at one end and a mirror image at the other with a plain house between. The other two, 117 and 119 were demolished prior to the Church of Scotland Offices being built 1909-11. The ground floor is a restoration of 1978-80 replacing a shop of 1883.
