William Chambers, 1770-2; facade retention 1964. 3-storey basement and attic, 5-bay classical former house. Render lined out as ashlar; ashlar dressings. Moulded architraves; flanked by channelled pilaster strips. Ionic porch to outer right bay, suporting company eagle. Pair of modern canted timber flat-roofed dormers.
Timber sash and case multi-pane windows. Lead coped mutual skews; dressed stone mutual stacks; grey slates.
Microtiled 3-storey rear elevation.
INTERIOR: modern office; rebuilt 1964.
RAILINGS: plain modern iron railings.
Built with nos 23-26 by 'the joint purses of Sir John Whitefoord, Sir Robert Murray and Gilbert Meason'. Chambers designed Meason's house at no 26, so presumably the others as well. A Group with Nos 21-26
