Former halls of residence for women students attending Moray House College as trainee teachers. Conceived just before the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, they were completed in 1925 as a symmetrical group of five residential blocks, arranged around a rectangular lawn. They continued to function as Edinburgh University student residences until their conversion into private apartments in 2004. Three residents to whom I spoke feel that the conversion has been very successful.
