Description

Probably George McRae, circa 1882. 4-storey, 5-bay tenement with Baronial details, forming part of terrace. Coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; string course above ground floor; bracketted cills and cornices to 1st floor windows; raised window surrounds; architraved window and doorway surrounds at ground; chamfered reveals; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights.

S ENTRANCE elevation: doorway between 2nd and 3rd bays (painted surround). Doorway offset to right in 4th bays; single windows above. Doorway with single window flanking to right in 1st bay; bipartites above; single window set in crowstepped gablehead with stone finial. Full-height canted window in 2nd bay; facetted polygonal roof; iron finial. Full-height canted window in 5th bay; lead-covered canopy; single window set in crowstepped gablehead linked to wallhead stack behind. Bipartite window offset at ground in 3rd bay; bipartites above; machicolated corbel to advanced panel above 1st floor; cill and cornice to 3rd floor window; blank square tablet set in crowstepped gablehead with stone finial. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; coped and rendered wallhead stack; coped mutual stacks; beaked skewputts. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

Low boundary coping to street.
