Description

Late 18th century. 2-storey and dormerless attic, large 3-bay
house; centre door with later square stone porch. Coursed
rubble, tooled dressings; raised angle and window margins.
Single storey wing to W (circa 1930) with piended roof;
2-pane glazing.
Service wing to rear.
Moulded eaves course; straight skews; end stacks; slate roof.
Rubble garden walls and retaining walls; dressed stone copes
and steps; later 19th century square ashlar gatepiers;
chamfered angles; moulded pyramidal caps.

Statement of Interest

House said to be built by Provost George Brown, factor to

the Earl of Findlater and Seafield. Appears on Wood's Town

Map of 1822 as belonging to the Misses Brown.
