Description

Peter Fulton, architect, Forres, dated 1893. E facing single
storey, 3-bay gate lodge (facing driveway). Bullfaced rubble,
tooled and polished ashlar dressings. Centre door with roll
moulding to jambs flanked by tripartites. Crenellated wallhead
raised above entrance to incorporate cartouche with datestone
and monogram. Projecting canted window in center of S gable
(facing road) with crenellated wallhead. Multi-pane glazing
in upper lights of sash windows. Decorative apex finials;
centre ridge cluster of coped stacks; slate roof. Rearwing
GATEPIERS: pair octagonal polished ashlar gatepiers with
shaped, crenellated and ball finialled caps.

Statement of Interest

Built for Colonel John Woodcock whose monogram JW is carved

on shield above doorway. See also notes to Newbold House.
