Circa 1875. Large asymmetrical double villa, polished ashlar,
droved or smooth rusticated basement. 2 storeys, attics and
basement. Stepped irregular elevations to NW and E with
2-storey bows, corbelled bow oriel and projecting square
windows; otherwise plain single light windows. Plate glass
sashes, some upper sashes leaded.
Steps with balustraded parapets to Roman Doric doorpieces,
entrance bay rises to 3-storey tower features with
round-arched windows to 2nd floor. Double-leaf panelled
doors; vestibule doors tripartite with leaded glass panels.
Band-course at 1st floor cills, deeply overhanging timber
bracketted eaves. Steeply pitched and swept slate roofs; tall
corniced axial and wallhead stacks, octagonal cans. Variety
of dormer shapes, some with lead finials, some roof
brattishing.
Stugged ashlar rear.
Interior: altered during conversion to flats, but many
original decorative features remain; timber dado panelling,
cornice and ceiling plasterwork; Corinthian column screen to
hall.
Low droved or rendered coped boundary/retaining wall with 2
pairs of coped square ashlar gatepiers.
