Description

Similar in detail to 3-13 Mirrlees Drive by John A Campbell,

architect; circa 1906. 2 similarly detailed ranges of

2-storey houses; Nos 18-20 a symmetrical 3-bay pair; No 14

2-bay, No 16, 3-bay. Rock faced ashlar with polished margins

and quoins. Steps with solid ashlar parapet to lugged

architraved door with keystone and cavetto jambs. Vestibule

doors tripartite with good art nouveau woodwork and leaded

glass panels. Flanking doors (to left only at No 14) 2-storey

canted windows; those to inner bays with solid ashlar

parapet, breaking through eaves. Outer bays with facetted

roofs to Nos 14-16, bell cast roofs to 18-20. Above doors

single-light architraved window; at Nos 18-20 ashlar corbels

support balcony with bombe section wrought-iron balustrade.

Sash windows; lower sashes plate glass, upper sashes

multi-pane glazing. Mutule cornice; tall corniced axial

stacks, slate roofs.

Plain rock-faced ashlar flanks to Nos 14; No 16 with canted

window to ground, bipartite above; tall corniced stacks.

Flank to No 20 with tall corniced wallhead stack breaking

through eaves; to left advanced bay with canted window at 1st single-storey and attic wing to rear. Flank to No 18 with

stack as above.
