Probably built for Barr & Stroud who were in occupation
from 1894; said to be their original premises - now (1990)
a wine bar and restaurant, but little altered by
conversion. Polychrome brick, and occupying a gushet
site in Ashton Lane. 2/3 storeys, complex roof, slated,
steep pitched to front with inset dormers and integrated
with M-shaped roof over former workshops at rear.
(These have long rooflights). Narrow canted angle, main
elevations also canted on plan, 2 wall-planes: to front,
recently painted detail, wide opening right in 3-storey
bay. Glazing mostly small-paned. Original stacks.
