J H Craigie (Clarke and Bell), 1908. Art Nouveau
remodelling of early 19th century tenement. 4-storey and
attic, 3-bay tenement with altered public house at
ground floor. Rendered stone with applied timber
dressings. 1st and 2nd floors: canted bays with
decorative glazing bars, 8 panes upper sash, 2 panes
lower; divided by continuous solid balcony on scrolled
consoles with ball finials. Bold 2nd floor cornice;
individual solid balconies linked by string courses,
with elaborately carved crests to 3rd floor. 4-light
windows with timber mullions and transomes and moulded
lintels to 3rd floor. 3rd floor and attic bays arranged
2-1; bold cornices at 3rd floor; segmental and
triangular pedimented, 3-light dormers and curvilinear
pierced, swept parapet in attic. Corniced wallhead
stack.
