Description

J J Burnet (Burnet, Son and Campbell), circa 1896.
Renaissance tenement. Polished red ashlar. 4-storeys and
attic, 7 unequal bays.
Nos 347 and 353: recessed doorways with cast-iron porch
grilles. All 3 doors leaded glass and fanlights. Sash and
case windows with 2-pane or circular glazing bars in
upper pane. 1st and 4th, bays canted and rising full-
height segmentally pedimented, applied aedicules at 2nd
floor with independent balustraded balconies; connected
by balustraded balcony at 1st floor and wrought-iron
balcony at 2nd; 7th bay canted to 2nd floor with balcony
over; cill bands to each floor in canted bays; eaves
mutule cornice, parapet over canted bays.
3-bay western section: skewed gable with small attic
window with sculpted, broken pediment and corniced
wallhead stack, slate roof. Corniced wallhead and axial
stacks.
Boundary piers with wrought-iron railings.
