Dated 1878. 3-storey and attic classical commercial building
on corner; 13 x 9 bays. Polished ashlar, channelled at ground
floor above basement cornice; ground floor mostly altered to
modern shops at N, original S of entrance bays to Wellington
Street; double entry at Nos 134, 136 Wellington Street,
pilastered with filletted necking, continuous dentil cornice
and lettering in frieze "WELLINGTON BUILDINGS"; plain
entrance at head of steps to Bath Street with plain frieze,
cornice and parapet above in central 3-bay section; low
basement windows and plain windows above. Mostly plate glass, single-pane windows etched at lower part set in architraves;
ground floor cornice; 1st floor moulded cill band, consoled,
corniced windows; 2nd floor moulded cill band. Plain eaves
entablature with modillion cornice; pierced balustrade broken
by block pedimented dormers, latter raised with console
keyblocks and segmental pediments at ends and corner with
French pavilion roofs; corniced ridge and end stacks; slate
roof.
Unusual glazing, perhaps early 20th century.
