Description

Circa 1830. Top storey and rear additions (?). Classical
house converted to offices. 3 storeys and half sunk basement,
5 x 7 bays. Polished ashlar, channelled at basement, droved
ashlar rear elevation. Central Roman Doric doorpiece with
mutule cornice, at head of steps oversailing basement at No
160 West George Street; pilastered doorpiece at No 150 Hope
Street. 2nd floor plain entablature. 3rd floor cill band.
Eaves cornice; parapet, raised with balustrade to central
section, West George Street. All windows sash and case in
architraves, plate glass. Axial corniced stacks.
ELEVATION TO WEST GEORGE STREET: 4 corbelled, corniced
windows flanking entrance, corniced windows above; plain at
2nd floor.
ELEVATION TO HOPE STREET: 7 bays arranged 3-2-2, outer bays
breaking forward; 1st bay from S blind at ground, 2nd bay
blind at 2nd floor, 2-light stone mullioned windows in
northern outer bays. Reduced wallhead stack. Cast-iron
railings.
RETURN ELEVATION TO WEST REGENT LANE: 4-pane glazing.
