Mid 19th century house remodelled and altered to offices, tearooms and restaurant by James Salmon (Salmon, Son and Gillespie), 1903. 4 storeys, attic and basement rising to full ground floor with modern shops at Hope Street; 3 x 10 bays; 2nd bay from N in Hope Street blind at ground and 1st floor. Continuous eaves lintel course, keystoned above single windows; mutule cornice. Mansard slate roof; axial and end stacks.
ELEVATION TO WEST REGENT STREET: 2 outer canted bays with deep, independent mutule cornices flanking central segmental pedimented Corinthian portico with steps rising through. Casement windows with geometric glazing bars. Glazed basement; metal friezes to each floor. Ground floor Corinthian mullioned arched windows; 2nd floor windows
corbelled at centre, arched on Corinthian colonettes; 3rd floor 4-light casements in architraves. Central bay: 1st floor window consoled and corniced. 2nd floor elliptically headed; 3rd floor round-headed attic windows.
ELEVATION TO HOPE STREET: ground floor cill band; ground, 1st and 2nd floor windows consoled, corniced, sash and case; 3rd floor moulded cill band. Corniced and scrolled wallhead stack.
REAR ELEVATION TO WEST REGENT LANE: 3 bays of 2 and 1-light sash and case windows; droved ashlar.
Wrought-iron railings and lamp standards.
INTERIOR: cast-iron balusters; carved newels.
