Probably mid 19th century. Crow-stepped dummy tower house; 2 storeys with attic, 3-bay S front with bolection- moulded doorway to right, regularly positioned windows (modern timber pivot windows replicating original glazing pattern of 6-pane lower, 4 pane upper sashes) with chamfers, main corners rounded, corbelled to square at attic storey; crow-stepped wall-head dormer central on each long wall; coped end stack at W, ball finial at E. Rubble-built, ashlar margins, slate roof.
Two-storey, brick-built, rendered extension added to rear (ie to N) to form 1 ground floor flat and 1 maisonette. This replaces low rear wing and low ranges of outbuildings to N, some crow-stepped, demolished during housing development.
Formerly The Tower, 1739 Cumbernauld Road. Now restored (2000/2001) as flats and focal point of new housing development by the Walker Group (Scotland) Ltd. (Architects G D Lodge & Partners).
