Alfred Hessel Tiltman of London, circa 1904. Elaborately-detailed red ashlar former hospital gatehouse block. Symmetrical 3-storey and attic. Front with French Renaissance ornament mostly mullioned and transomed windows (leaded panes); arched openings at ground (curly-gables centre bay, triumphal arch arrangement at ground with vehicle entrance, 2-storey oriel above); shallow advanced ends with finialed big pavilion roof; (stone) attic dormers over main cornice; granite base; steep-pitched slate roof; brick flanks.
