Description

Earlier 19th century single storey rectangular-plan 3-bay classical villa, made T-plan by addition of service wing in mid 19th century and with attic addition circa 1920. Single storey and attic, 3-bay, T-plan villa with classical porch. Stugged red sandstone rubble, some harling, ashlar margins. Base course, architraved windows to S, cornice and blocking course.

S (ARGYLE STREET WEST/ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: door to centre with corniced Doric columned porch, small-pane fanlight flush panelled door, modern glazed vestibule door. Windows flanking.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: window to outer left.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: single storey wing abutting with door on W face. Mostly 12-pane sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; tall ashlar corniced end stacks, original cans; flat-roof slate-hung dormers to S and abutting stacks to E and W boxed to N.

INTERIOR: plain cornices; simply detailed timber chimneypieces; black marble chimneypiece to present drawing room.

GATEPIERS AND GATES: narrow ashlar posts, timber gates.
