Description

This is an earlier 19^th-century, single storey and attic, 3-bay, T-plan cottage-style villa with classical porch, located within the Victorian residential suburb of Upper Helensburgh.

Originally rectangular in plan, a service wing was added in the mid 19^th century, and an attic was added circa 1920. The porch may also be a later addition.

The building is of stugged red sandstone rubble with some harling and ashlar margins. There is a base course, architraved windows to the south elevation, cornice and blocking course.

South (entrance) elevation: Door to centre with corniced Doric columned porch, small-pane fanlight flush panelled door, modern glazed vestibule door. Windows flanking.

East (side) elevation: window to outer left.

North (rear) elevation: single storey wing abutting. Mostly 12-pane sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; tall ashlar corniced end stacks, original cans; flat-roof slate-hung dormers to south and abutting stacks to east and west, boxed to north. There is a later conservatory addition to the west side (2026)

Interior: plain cornices; simply detailed chimneypieces.

The gatepiers are narrow ashlar posts. Timber gates removed prior to 2009.
