Description

Later 18th century. 3-storey and attic, 3-bay tenement. Cream sandstone rubble, coursed to N elevation. Lintel course above 2nd floor windows, raised margins.

S (STREET) ELEVATION: 4-bay ground floor, originally with doors in 1st and 3rd bays from right, now blocked as windows. Iron window guards to ground floor windows. Fenestration regular at 1st and 2nd floor.

N (REAR) FACADE: turnpike stair turret.

12-pane sash and case windows. Grey slate roof, slate-hung piended dormers, ashlar coped skews, skewputts.

Statement of Interest

Entrance to the building is through the pend in the adjoining building No 42, 44 listed below. NMRS photograph shows two doors in the S entrance facade. Reconstructed 1968 by Roand Anderson Kinninmonth and Paul. Submission for Civic Trust Award 1971 with Planning Department, includes before and after photographs.
