Description

1882. Stone built pier projecting S at east end of West Quay. Squared and coursed stone over rubble core. Recent corrugated shed erected upon it.

Statement of Interest

A pier is 1st recorded in 1493 and this was rebuilt in stone in 1631. This is shown on Slezer's view circa 1660, and on Adair's map of 1693. The present structure was ercted on the same spot as these and at a cost of ?810.
