Description

John Hutchison, architect, 1891. Free Renaissance detail.
2-storey house with single storey and attic block at rear.
Snecked bull-nosed rubble with ashlar dressings. Windows
mostly mullioned and transomed. Entrance front has advanced
gabled centre bay with semi-circular pediment to 1st floor
window, and drum turret in rectangle to right with pilastered
sashes to 1st floor, eaves cornice and conical slated cap:
left of centre is gable swept down to ground floor with wide
moulded round-headed arch porch retaining wall to right and
window, and double-leaf panelled door to left. Lunette glazed
with small panes.
Garden front has 2 gables with single storey canted window
at right.
Green slate roof with bargeboarded gables, crest tiles, and
corniced stacks.
Single storey block simpler with sash windows and piended
slate roof with crest tiles. Swept dormer. Octagonal ashlar
gatepiers connected by curved snecked rubble walls to square
ashlar piers.
