The 18th century additions at the upper floors demonstrate the importance of regularity of design at that period. Although unaligned with the ground floor, the upper floors' fenestration follows a regular A,B,A pattern avoiding a large blank bay to the left. Garden shared with 17 East Terrace. Run-rig garden walls to rear; the run-rig gardens of houses on East Terrace appear on an 18th century map: J Adair, Map of West Lothian, 1737.
