Late 18th century, altered. 2-storey and attic, prominently sited terraced corner shop with dwelling above. Ashlar with stugged and droved margins. 1st floor cill band and eaves course. Blind voussoired Venetian window.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2-leaf boarded timber shop door with encaustic-tiled step to splayed angle at ground mitred to square above.
E (BARCLAY) STREET ELEVATION: panelled timber door with plate glass fanlight to right at ground, bowed (Georgian style) shop window to left under fascia, 2 regularly-disposed windows with narrow timber shutters to 1st floor and blind Venetian window in gablehead.
S (MARGARET STREET) ELEVATION: 3-bay elevation with bowed shop window in bay to right at ground, 2 windows to left and regular fenestration to 1st floor (outer bays with shutters), 3 flat-roofed dormer windows.
4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows above ground. Multi-pane shop windows. Grey slates. Ashlar stacks with cans.
Formerly listed as '32 Barclay Street and 25 Market Street'. Although altered, No 25 is the sole survivor in anything like its original form at the NW corner of Stonehaven's Market Square. The blind Venetian window detail can be seen on a number of fine buildings in Stonehaven's New Town. False timber exterior shutters at 1st floor distract from intended classical dignity.
